jewelry sizing

The following should help you take the mystery out of sizes of bracelet and necklaces.

Bracelets

Some people like to wear their bracelets snug and others like them to dangle a bit so take this in mind when determining your bracelet size. The larger the bead the snugger it will be as the bulk takes up inches.

To measure with a tape measure watch where it overlaps on the wrist and then add ½ to 1 inch. Remeasure with this addition and see if it feels comfortable.

Take it a step further and take a test drive. Take a strip of paper, mark the measurement, cut it beyond that mark, tape where the mark and other end meets and see if it feels good.

When you order watch for that size. If you can’t find it look to see if there are additional jump rings/links to attach the clasp to or it has a chain that you can adjust your size. If you are purchasing a handcrafted item ask if you can have an extra link or a chain added. wildchild708 is happy to accommodate such requests on any of their handcrafted items. We also sell a simple extension that you can add to a bracelet or a necklace. If you are purchasing items to layer decide if you want them all to be the same size. If a bracelet is comfortable on the wrist will it be uncomfortable higher on the arm.

If you are purchasing an anklet the same measurement technique applies. You generally see those sizes listed as anklets or with a size of 9-10 inches.

Necklaces

Necklaces come in all kinds of sizes. The following chart should give you an idea where that necklace will fall on you.

14-16 inches is considered a choker. A choker lays around the base of the neck. – men 18”

17-19 inches is considered a princess necklace and it falls just below the collarbone. – men 20”

20-24 inches is called a matinee necklace and it falls just above or at the bust line/collarbone. – men 22-24”

28-24 inches is an opera necklace. It will fall below the bust line. And a great benefit is you can turn it into a double choker by looping it.

45 inches will fall at the waist. Wear it as it is or make it a multi-strand necklace. You can evenly loop it or stagger the loops.

48 inches is a lariat. You can create multi strands or tie a knot in it.
