Wouldn’t we all love to be granted 3 wishes. They say if you please a fairy you might just be granted such wishes.
How can you please them you wonder? Just by creating a space just for them. Perhaps a place to live, a place to lounge, maybe even a get away.
Fairies can be very creative and they seem to send that power to you growing your own imagination. Whether it is taking simple found objects and creating pieces just for them. Developing a livable environment like you would in your own home shopping for that perfect piece to add to your settings.
I will warn you it can be quite addictive. Fairy gardens can be a project for you alone or as joint effort. Each time adding a little element that surely will bring a smile to your face.
How do you get started? First decide where you want to start one. Perhaps you have a tree in your yard. You could place a door against it creating a portal to another world.
You could add a few items near the front door like you would in your home. Get creative so you can move the stuff if you need to mow, weed wack, etc. by placing the stuff on a wood box or perhaps a patio paver. Oversize flower pots are a good start. Fill with dirt and place a plant. Think of it as a tree for shade or how you might like your backyard to be. Those cracked flower pots have now taken on a whole new meaning. You can set them inside another pot or turn on their side. Just be careful as they can be sharp if grabbed the wrong way. Even the plastic ones! Saucers for pots are a perfect, as well. Galvanized tubs can sit on the ground, on top of tables. Bird baths that the birds are not using. Wood boxes. Birdhouses. Have an old wheelbarrow? The good thing is your garden could become moveable if inclement weather was predicted. Even clear a little space out of your garden. How cute would that be. And if you just want a little garden to start how about a teacup or an oversized soup mug. I can envision a table of teacups making up a little street. And just remember you don’t have to limit your fairy gardens to the patio or garden itself. You can make a little space on a shelf, table, desk inside your home or a big pot, how fun would that be. Okay, place on a flower dolly or find a small dolly to place it on. You will be much happier when the time comes to clean or if you added a plant to move it.
Fairy gardens are perfect for children of all ages. Who knew as an adult you could become enchanted by just letting your imagination run with the wind. Or was that a fairy that just moved quickly by you. If you are lucky you will see them. Next time something happens you never thought would have it might just have been a fairy listening to your thoughts.
